Falkville Public Library plans summer reading program for July

Visiting with Herman and Adell Gibson last Tuesday were his brother, Howard Gibson and wife Helen of Priceville and her brother, Franklin Harrison and wife Sue of Flint.

Helen Pressley’s sisters, Dana Schrimsher and Mary Alice Nelson, honored her last Friday with a birthday luncheon at Cracker Barrel in Hartselle.

TeKey Gray of Walker County is visiting with Betty Wright.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Troy Holmes. His burial was at Ebenezer in Morgan County, June 2.

Falkville First Baptist Church extends an invitation to its services. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m., morning worship at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday prayer meeting at 6 p.m. and choir practice at 7 p.m. First Baptist’s pastor is Rev. Greg Burcham, keyboard player is Pam Blevins, the organist is Sylvia Halbrooks and the pianist is Patricia Ramey.

Falkville Public Library is making plans for its annual reading program to be held in July. The program theme is “Dig and Read.” Library hours are Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. The library offers free use of computers, laminating services and fax services. They also have books on CD and DVD. Visit the library often and check out a good read.

Belated birthday greetings are extended to Jennifer Yarbrough on June 7, and Janet Woods on June 8 from First Baptist Church in Falkville. Belated birthday wishes are also extended to Cooper Williams, who turned five, and Charles Williams, both on June 9, Faye Anders on June 10, Barbara Asherbranner on June 13, Ruthie Nell Wilhite from her children and grandchildren, Joel Oakley from his sister-in-law, Janie Holmes, on June 5, Pat Hayes on June 12, from Betty Wright and Emily Wilhite from her grandmother, Ruthie Nell Wilhite.

Birthday wishes are extended to Alan Thompson on June 16, Don Morris on June 19 and Bonnie Thompson on June 23.

Happy days are extended to Sue Evans of Naples, Fla., from her childhood friend, Jeanne Blackmon.

Congratulations to Harold and Martha Humphrey who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 9. Mrs. Humphrey was the former Martha Barber of Falkville.

Congratulations also to Jimmy and Kathy Gray on their 43rd wedding anniversary on June 5.

A picnic was held at Falkville Senior Citizen Center on Culver Road last Monday. Hot dogs and party foods were served. Those attending and enjoying the good food and fellowship were Carol Cole, Faye Anders, Barbara Asherbranner, Charles and Linda Williams, Bob and Linda Ball, Martha Garrison, Vivian Summerford, Patsy Clemmons, Movyln Roberson, Judy McClellan and Tommy and Jeannie Kelsey.

Services at New Beginning Church with ministers Wade and Mary Stover start at 10 a.m. for Sunday school, 11 a.m. for worship service and 5 p.m. for the Sunday evening service.

Maria Daws and husband Jimmy entertained at a cookout last Saturday night at Robinson Creek. Guests were family members and friends. They played games and ate and sang songs around a campfire.
