Lady Tigers clinch area championship

No. 2 Hartselle earned a top-seed in the Class 5A North Regional Softball Tournament Friday afternoon by soundly defeating Cullman’s Lady Bearcats 10-3 in the final of the Area 15 Tournament in Hartselle.

The Bearcats managed only six hits and didn’t score until the bottom of the sixth inning when they pushed across all three of their runs.

The Lady Tigers were ahead 10-0 after five innings and led 10-0 after five.

Haley Jared paced Hartselle in hitting with a double and two singles and an RBI. She also pitched a complete game to earn the win, allowing only six hits while striking our eight and walking three batters.

Other Hartselle hitters were Baylee Holt with a two-RBI triple, Smithson with a pair of singles and Ashley Boggs, Kayla Faulk, Taylor Wascavage, Leah Stephenson and Hope Cain with a single each.
