The Community Action Partnership of North Alabama has announced it will conduct a “Community Outreach” to assist eligible households with their utility bill.

The two-day event will be held at the Community Action office at 1909 Central Parkway SW in Decatur on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 16-17, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.

“Our goal is to reach those in Morgan County that may not realize that they quality for this type of assistance,” said Cindy Anderson, director of community services.

Guidelines are based on the entire household’s income for the previous month. The maximum gross amount for the previous month for a household of one is $1,396; household of two, $1,891; household of three, $2,386; and household of four, $2,881.

No appointment is necessary; however, the client must bring in the following documentation in order to receive assistance: current utility bill, Alabama picture ID, Social Security cards for all household members, proof of income from the previous month for everyone in the household that is 18 or older that does not have any income or is not a full-time student must be present and bring a witness in with them (witness cannot be a member of their immediate family nor a member of the household and cannot be someone receiving assistance on the same day).

Clients may only receive assistance one time per season so if a client has received assistance since Dec. 1, 2012, they are not eligible at this time. Thy may, however be eligible again this summer.
