Hartselle High School has been approved for occupancy by state inspectors.

School Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed said inspectors gave them approval to hold classes beginning Monday morning.

“We’ll be ready to go Monday morning,” Reed said.

Reed said the inspection covered the “life and safety” aspects of the building, which includes electrical, structural, HVAC and fire safety systems.

“We’re good to go to hold classes here Monday,” Reed said. “It’s anything that inclues life safety and the interior of the building.”

However, Reed said the inspectors didn’t give approval for the auditorium or the exterior of the building.

Students will report at 8:15 a.m. Monday morning to receive a new class schedule. They will then have a chance to explore the building and find their classrooms before classes begin at 9:30 a.m.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria on Monday, but the meals will still be cooked at the old facility and transported to the new building.

According to the school website, students who currently do not have parking permits will not be allowed to park on campus due to limited parking. However, they will use parking lots at Hartselle First United Methodist Church and then bus the students to the new campus.

School officials said that 100 more parking spaces will be available this fall when the new athletic fieldhouse is completed.
