Lady Tigers tie for first in their own JV tourney

Hartselle’s JV softball team won three straight games before losing to Mortimer Jordan in the final game of an eight-team round robin tournament at the Grady and Margie Long Softball Complex in Hartselle on Friday and Saturday.

Mortimer Jordan and Bob Jones both finished the tournament with 3-1 records.

The Lady Tigers defeated Albertville 12-1 and James Clemens 15-1 on Friday and Bob Jones 8-0 before loosing to Mortimer Jordan 1-4. The loss was only their second of the season.

In their loss, the Lady Tigers managed only two hits. They came in the fifth inning and resulted in their only run. Riley Corum reached base on a single, stole second and scored on s base hit by Ashley Segars, Ashley Segars’ single.

The loaded the bases on an error and two walks with one out in the fourth inning but was unable to score.

Against James Clemens, Hartselle logged seven hits, Hope Cain had a homer and a single, Hannah Jenkins doubled and Mary Jane Wooley, Klyne Osborne and Sara Faulk each singled.

Twelve hits were recorded in the win over Albertville. Anna Stinson had tree singles, Sydnee Wiley had a double and single, Emily Crow and Ali Forth each had a pair of singles and Cain, Jenkins and Corum each singled.
