Delona Florence ‘Toby’ DeMonia

A graveside service for Delona Florence “Toby” DeMonia, 87, of Hartselle will be Tues., Oct. 16, at 1:30 p.m. at Cullman Memory Gardens with her son-in-law, Wayne Speegle, officiating and Moss-Service Funeral Home of Cullman directing.

Visitation will be Tues., Oct. 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. DeMonia died Mon., Oct. 15, 2012, at her residence. She was born Sept. 17, 1925, to Ambrose Alexander and Iva Aster Waddell Alexander. She died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Angela Speegle, and thus was able to remain in her home until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Iva Jackson DeMonia.

She is survived by two sons, Jim DeMonia of St. George Island and Scottsboro and Rick Demonia of Decatur; two daughters, Joy Sellers and husband Bob of Peachtree City, Ga. and Angela Speegle and husband Wayne of Hartselle; a brother, Laban James of Gardendale; three sisters, Margaret Easterwood of Arab, Peggy Sanford of Saucier, Miss., and Martha Thomas of Decatur; four grandchildren, Derek Speegle of Nashville, Tenn., Gary Speegle of Leeds, B.J. Sellers of Newman, Ga. and Libby Sellers Bowen of Pelham and a great-granddaughter, Nora Jean Sellers.
