Melcher, Nelson exchange vows

Lyn Melcher and Jonathan Nelson of Hartselle were wed on Aug. 11.

The bride’s parents are Phil and Harriett Tipton of Fairfield, Ohio, and Mary Sharp of Somerville.

The groom’s parents are Tim and Karen Nelson of Hartselle. Officiating the ceremony was Dr. Shane Lewis.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, Phil Tipton.

The bride chose an ivory, strapless chiffon dress with an empire waistline with crystals and sequins to accent the chapel train. The bouquet was a burst of turquoise, orange and yellow flowers with pearls and ribbon to trim.

The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Gail Sanchez of Jackson, Mo.; maid of honor was the bride’s best friend, Faith McRaney of Priceville. Bridal attendants were Jeanne Heflin of Priceville; Holly Ogle of Priceville; the bride’s daughters, Kala Melcher and Lariss Melcher of Hartselle.

The bride’s granddaughter, Serenity Hope of Hartselle, was the flower girl and the ring bearer was the bride’s grandson, Haven Lance of Hartselle. Best man was the groom’s father, Tim Nelson of Hartselle.

Groomsmen were the groom’s brother, David Nelson of Hartselle; Todd Griffith of Hartselle and Tyler Tucker of Falkville.

Usher was Lee Sanchez of Jackson, Mo.

Music was provided by Whitney and Zach Lewis, pianist was Mrs. Jay Lewis.

Wedding director was Kym Champion. Reception assistants were Christine Clemons, Kayla Lowery, Sandra Bordon and Peggy Shadden.

The couple honeymooned at Fort Morgan and Gulf Shores and will reside in Hartselle.

The rehearsal party was held at Soggy Bottom in Somerville by the groom’s parents, Tim and Karen Nelson.

A bridal/lingerie shower was given on June 25 by Faith McRaney and Leah Clemons at J.W. Steakhouse in Priceville; a bridal shower was given by the groom’s aunts and great-aunts at the home of the groom’s parents on July 15 in Hartselle; a shower of bliss was given by Somerville Baptist on July 25; a tool and gadget shower was given by the groom’s brother, David Nelson, at his home on Aug. 4 in Hartselle.
