Burrell, Mercieca to wed May 24
Janet Burrell of Decatur and Bob Burrell of Decatur announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Leigh Burrell of Huntsville, to Alexander Charles Mercieca of Huntsville, son of Charles Mercieca, originally from Malta and currently Huntsville and the late Sherry Mercieca.
The future bride is the granddaughter of Betty Greene of Rome, Ga. and the late Lester Greene, Louise Burrell of Rome, Ga. and the late Leon Burrell. A 1998 graduate of Hartselle High School with an advanced diploma, she is a 2002 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in interior design. She was on the dean’s list while at UA.
The future groom is the grandson of the late Virginia Ruth “Mammy” Pettus of Giles County, Tenn. and Alton “Doc” Hooks Watson of Pulaski, Tenn. and the late Julia and Carmelo Mercieca of Malta.
A 1997 graduate of Huntsville High School with an advanced diploma, he received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education in 2003 from Alabama A&M University. He received a master’s degree in secondary education in 2005 from A&M.
He was on the dean’s list in college.
The wedding is planned for May 24, 2008, at The Wedding Chapel on the Mountain in Huntsville.
