Leroy J. Carlisle Jr.

A memorial graveside service for Leroy J. Carlisle Jr., 78, of Hartselle was Friday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at Marvin's Chapel Cemetery in Pinson.
Mr. Carlisle died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at his residence. He was born February 9, 1929, in Jefferson County to Leroy Jackson Carlisle Sr. and Bessie Aileen St. John Carlisle. He attended Howard College in 1951 and played on the football team. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 and graduated from the University of Alabama as a member of Mu Theta Tau. He was an avid flyer who obtained his private pilot's license in 1971. He served in the Decatur Civil Air Patrol in the 1970s and was a unique man of courage and character. He will be missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M. Carlisle, who died February 25, 2007.
He is survived by two sons, Wesley L. Carlisle and wife Pam of Hartselle and William W. Carlisle of Tuscaloosa; a daughter, Wendy Carlisle Adams and husband Chris of Homewood; a brother, Donald L. Carlisle of Tarrant; and a grandson, Andrew Wade Carlisle of Tuscaloosa.
