Hartselle tennis on the rise

The Hartselle tennis program has made a vast amount of improvement in the last couple of seasons, leading to a strong season this year by both the boys’ and girls’ teams. The team is led by coach Chris Pressnell.

The boys are 14-2, with both losses coming to defending state champion Mountain Brook. They recently won the Russellville tournament, where the team combined to go 25-2 in singles and doubles matches. Marc Cera and Sam Stone went undefeated during the tournament for the Tigers.

The girls are also 14-2, with both losses coming from Mountain Brook. The Lady Tigers went 24-3 in winning the Russellville tournament. Eleanor Vest, Caroline Sparks, Avie Broom and Lily Reese finished the tournament undefeated,

Both teams are currently leading the area, having won over Decatur, Austin, and Muscle Shoals earlier in the season.

The teams have a difficult road ahead of them, with matches against Muscle Shoals, Decatur, McGill-Toolen, and Pensacola Catholic in the next two weeks.
