Tigers earn four road victories

The Hartselle Tigers baseball team became road warriors this past week, earning four victories before falling for the first time this season. The Tigers earned hard-fought victories over Hoover, Tuscaloosa County, Fairhope and Robertsdale before falling to Mobile Christian.

Hartselle 11, Robertsdale 4
The Tigers sealed their 11-4 win over Robertsdale by scoring six runs in the top of the seventh. Cade Miles finished 2-for-4 with three runs scores and two RBI, while Jo Williamson and Cam Palahach each had a hit and two RBI. Peyton Steele added two hits and a run scored. Carson Wilson earned the win after allowing one run on five hits in 2.1 innings of relief.

Hartselle 5, Fairhope 4
The Tigers never trailed in their 5-4 win over Fairhope. They led 2-0 after the first but had to hold off a late Fairhope rally to get the win. Nic Chumley (2-0) picked up the win after allowing three runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings of work. Brody Leathers pitched the final two outs to earn the save.

Lawson Williams finished 2-for-2 with two walks and two RBI to lead Hartselle. Williamson and Palahach each had two hits. William had three runs scored and two RBI, while Steele had a hit and an RBI.

Hartselle 10, Tuscaloosa County 8
Hartselle jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Tuscaloosa County tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the fifth inning. The Tigers scored a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to lead 10-6 and held off a late Wildcats rally for the win.

Coleman earned the win after an inning of relief. He allowed one run on no hits.

Williamson finished with a home run and two RBI, while scoring two runs to lead Hartselle. Williams and Cole Miles each had two hits, with Miles having an RBI. Coleman added a hit and two RBIs.

Mobile Christian 12, Hartselle 10
The Tigers battled back from a 10-3 deficit in the third inning to tie the game at 10-10 heading into the sixth inning. Mobile Christian scored two in the top of the six and held on for the win.

Peyton Steele led Hartselle by going 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Cade Miles added a double, two RBI and a run scored. Andrew Coleman took the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in 2.1 innings of relief.

Hartselle 3, Hoover 2 (10 innings)
It took 10 innings to decide the game between Hartselle and Hoover last Tuesday. The Tigers scored a run in the second and seventh innings but gave up two in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings. Cade Miles’ double allowed Leathers to score in the top of the 10th to get the win over 7A Hoover.

Leathers finished 2-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and a run scored to lead Hartselle. Palahach added two hits, while Keaton Lance had an RBI.

Miles pitched one inning of relief to get the win, while Leathers pitched a scoreless 10th for the save.
