Falkville drops region game to Tanner

Falkville saw their undefeated start to the season end in a 48-18 loss to Tanner last Friday.

Tanner jumped out to a 20-0 lead before Malachi Collett returned a Rattlers kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to cut the lead to 20-6 heading into halftime.

Falkville had the ball coming out of halftime, but their drive came to an abrupt end when Tanner’s Skylar Townsend picked off a Landon Powers’ pass and returned it for a touchdown and a 27-6 lead.

The Blue Devils cut the lead to 27-12 when Kole Fitzgerald’s 11-yard touchdown run capped off a 60-yard drive.

The Rattlers increased their lead to 41-12 before Fitzgerald scored on a five-yard touchdown pass from Powers.

Tanner capped off the scoring with a long touchdown run to make the final score 48-18,

Powers finished with 185 yards passing, a touchdown and three interceptions. Fitzgerald finished with 90 yards receiving and a touchdown along with a rushing touchdown. Denver Comstock led Falkville with 55 yards rushing.

Falkville (3-1, 1-1) will travel to Hatton (3-0, 1-0) for another region battle on Friday.
