Attributes of God

By Todd Barrier

In Exodus 34:6-7, we basically see God introduce all that He is to Moses. The verses say, “And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”

In our Bible class at the Falkville Church of Christ we recently finished up a series on these attributes of God. I encourage you to do the same. Sometimes we only think of God in the way we want to see Him. In a way that fits our status in life. But He is there at all times, and He is present in all situations. He’s not just one thing He is many things. He is loving, yet just. He doesn’t let the guilty go unpunished yet will show mercy. Those are just a couple of examples of the many attributes of God. We must remember all the attributes of God, so when we see them in our life, we recognize who He is and what we must do to be in a right relationship with Him.
