Hartselle volleyball falls in Eddie Preuitt Ford Tournament semifinals

The Hartselle Lady Tigers hosted their annual Eddie Preuitt Ford Tournament last weekend at Hartselle High School. The Lady Tigers fell to 7A No. 4 Sparkman in the Gold Bracket semifinals. Sparkman went on to win the tournament championship.

Hartselle finished pool play 2-1 with wins over West Point (2-0) and 5A No. 5 Madison Academy (2-0) and a loss to Helena (1-2). Jadyn Chesser led the Lady Tigers with 19 kills, 21 digs, and six aces. Lydia Simmons had 20 kills, five digs, five aces and one block. Amber Holshouser added 75 assists and 12 digs.

Hartselle (11-13) advanced to the Gold Bracket where they finished 1-1 with a win over 5A No. 7 Guntersville and a loss to Sparkman. Simmons led the Lady Tigers with 10 kills, four blocks and an assist, while Katie Gillott had 11 kills and four digs.

Early in the week, Hartselle defeated Decatur 3-0 in area play. Chesser led the way with 15 kills, eight digs and a block, while Simmons had five kills, five aces, three digs and one block. Holshouser had 31 assists, seven digs and three kills. Gillot added six kills and four digs.
