Tommy P. Garner 

Decatur 

Funeral service for Tommy P. Garner, 76, was held March 4 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joel Snyder officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Herring Cemetery. 

Mr. Garner died March 2 at his residence. He was born Aug. 25, 1945, in Morgan County to James L. Garner and Velma Inez Breedlove Garner. He was employed by Amoco Chemical Company–BP for 32 years, as a chemical operator, prior to his retirement.  

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a member and deacon of Unity Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, Don, Gary, Larry and Rickey Garner; a sister, Shirley Hale; and a granddaughter, Maddy Garner. 

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Barber Garner; son, Ross Garner (Beth); daughter, Amy Dotson (Wayne); grandchildren, Dustin Dotson, Levi Dotson, Will Dotson and Seth Garner; and great-grandchildren, Ellie Echazabal, Lillie Dotson and Ayden Dotson. 

Pallbearers were Dustin Dotson, Levi Dotson, Will Dotson, Seth Garner, Ross Garner and Paul Henderson.

Rayburn Leon Lake 

Danville 

Memorial services for Rayburn Lake were held at Peck Funeral Home March 5 at 3 p.m., with Bro. Tom Campbell officiating. Burial was at Johnson Chapel cemetery. 

Mr. Lake died March 2, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born March 26, 1947, in Morgan County to Harold L. and Dorothy McCleskey Lake, who preceded him in death. 

He was employed by Solutia for 38 years, where he retired as a calibration technician. He served in the United States Army National Guard.  

He married his best friend and love of his life, Debbie Edwards Lake, Dec. 9, 1994. He was a devoted father and grandfather and never missed a chance to watch his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid bass fisherman and could fix anything. He always had a kind word to say and a joke to brighten anyone’s day. He was a dedicated friend to many.  

Mr. Lake touched so many lives. His warm smile and giving heart will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Edwards Lake; sons, Cleeton Springer (Stacey) and Scott Springer (Alexia); seven grandchildren, Gracie Poe, Colin Springer, Ella Springer, Lyndie Springer, Mia Springer, Reed Springer and Ava Springer; sisters, Reatha Tanksley (Tim) and Jannice Garner; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers were Danny Wallace, John Tanner, Ricky Naylor, Tad Campbell, Byron Jones and Rex Glenn. Honorary pallbearers were his lifelong friends, Jimmie Lake, W.D. Perry, Doug Ledbetter, Don Long, Ronnie Lewis and Lee Baron. 

David Hargrove Sr. 

Somerville 

Funeral service for David Hargrove Sr., 61, was held March 6 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Hines officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. 

Mr. Hargrove died March 3 at his residence. He was born Oct. 13, 1960, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to John Wesley Hargrove and Sallie Augusta Bohanan Hargrove.  

He was a contractor of all trades, a tree climber, a logger and a mechanic and was a member of the Hartselle Church of Christ. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. 

Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, David Joe Hargrove Jr. 

Survivors include his wife, Angela Sullivan Hargrove; daughters, “Sallie” Frances Hargrove and Angela “Elizabeth” Hargrove; daughter-in-law, Jessica Overton Hargrove; brother, Bobby Lee Hargrove (Della); sister, Brenda Williamson (Raymond); and grandchildren, Dylan Blaine Hargrove and Jacklyn “Skye” Hargrove. 

Pallbearers were the elders from Hartselle Church of Christ. 

Thomas Andrew (Bud) Hill 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Thomas Andrew (Bud) Hill, 104, was held March 6 at 12:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Clifford Tomlinson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Cedar Creek Cemetery.  

Mr. Hill died March 3 at his residence. He was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Winston County, to John Hill and Rosie Berry Hill. 

Bud was a lifelong member of Cedar Creek Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a veteran and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was Past Master of Falkville Masonic Lodge 396. He also was employed as a mechanic by Peek Olds-Cadillac in Decatur, prior to his retirement. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marry Sellers Hill; his parents; a son, Thomas Jr. Hill and a grandson, Timothy Wayne Hill. 

Survivors include one grandson, Thomas Randy Hill (Kelly); great-grandchildren, Dustin Hill, Lindi Hill Kueckelhan and Joie Hill Sandlin; and great-great-grandchildren, Ellie Kate Sandlin, Kase Thomas Sandlin, Austen Dru Kueckelhan, Denver Marie Kueckelhan and Willow Elizabeth Kueckelhan. 

Pallbearers were Roger Hill, Jeremy Brewer, Mitchell Millican, Johnny Brewer, Bunky Brewer and Burt Brewer.
