Lady Tigers end losing streak with win over Mountain Brook

The Lady Tigers had to dig deep to end a two-game losing streak on the road at Mountain Brook. Hartselle battled from behind early in the game and then again with four minutes to go when the game was on the line.

The Lady Spartans jumped out to a 17-11 first-quarter lead behind the play of Emma Stearns, who scored 15 consecutive points to start the game. Hartselle got six points from Masyn Marchbanks and a three-pointer from Gracie Hill to stay close.

The second quarter belonged to Marchbanks and the Lady Tigers, who outscored Mountain Brook 17-8. Marchbanks finished with 11 points to help Hartselle take a 28-25 lead into halftime.

The Lady Spartans held Hartselle to eight points in the third quarter on their way to retaking the lead, 40-36, heading into the fourth quarter.

In the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, the Lady Spartans extended their lead to 46-41. The final four minutes belonged to the Lady Tigers, who closed the game on an 8-0 run to grab the 49-46 win.

Marchbanks and Karleigh Shipley each finished with four points down the stretch to help Hartselle get the victory.

Marchbanks finished with a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Tigers. Shipley added nine points and four rebounds, and Alyssa McMinemon had seven points and four rebounds.

Stearns finished with 22 points to lead Mountain Brook.
