Four Hartselle baseball players sign to play college baseball

Four Hartselle baseball players recently signed college scholarships to continue their playing careers following their upcoming senior seasons.

Pitchers Elliott Bray, William Turner and Caleb Pittman signed to play with Auburn University. Brodie Morrow signed to play with Southern Union Community College in Dothan.

Bray was 9-3 with a 1.26 earned run average and 124 strikeouts in 78 innings. He was named to the 6A All-State First Team.

Pittman, who was 5-4 and struck out 66 batters in 57 and 1/3 innings this past season, said he has always known Auburn was where he wanted to be.

Turner finished 4-3 with a 2.73 earned run average and 64 strikeouts in 46 innings. “It feels great to sign with Auburn University and to have a chance to play in the SEC,” said Turner. “It is a dream come true.”

Morrow led the team with 37 runs batted in and a .310 batting average.

All four players were significant contributors in the Tigers’ run to the 6A State Championship series this year, where they finished runner-up to Faith Academy.
