Council appoints Ta’kisha Guster Gholston as municipal judge

Special to the Enquirer

Ta’kisha Guster Gholston was appointed last week by the Hartselle City Council as the Hartselle’s newest municipal judge. The vote to appoint Gholston, who was chosen from a field of seven candidates, was unanimous.

Gholston will be sworn in Jan. 26 and will preside over her first municipal court proceedings the following Thursday, according to the City of Hartselle Facebook page.

Gholston is a graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama School of Law. She first started practicing law in Huntsville in 2002, working with a solo practitioner, before opening her own office in Decatur in 2005, where she currently represents clients in private civil, criminal and domestic relations cases in district and circuit courts

Gholston has worked on cases ranging from theft to capital murder.

I’m extremely excited and I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to serve the City of Hartselle,” Gholston said. “I‘m ready to get started.”

Gholston said the parttime judgeship will allow her to remain in private practice after she is sworn in and begins her term.
