Police arrest two at Hartselle Walmart

Special to the Enquirer

While at Walmart in Hartselle Nov. 19, Hartselle Police Lt. Alan McDearmond was alerted of a person in the business who had previously shoplifted and ran before police could apprehend him.

The suspect, later identified as Joshua Scott Stewart, 32, again allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for more than $700 in merchandise.

An officer apprehended Stewart, and McDearmond observed another subject with Stewart.

The other subject, John Pointer III, 38, was arrested for concealing merchandise in his clothes.

When officers transported Pointer to the police department, they allegedly discovered a small amount of methamphetamine in his clothes.

Stewart was charged with theft of property in the third degree, and Pointer was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Both subjects were transported to the Morgan County Jail with a $1,000 bond.
