Encore Classic tips off Saturday morning 

Hartselle High School will host the Encore Classic which starts Saturday morning. 35 varsity teams including seven from Morgan County will play in the three-day event. 

Hartselle, Brewer, Priceville, Danville and Austin will each play three games during the event. Also playing will be Decatur and Falkville. 

Other teams include defending state champions Hazel Green (6A), Rogers (4A) and Cold Springs (2A). Madison Academy, Spain Park, and Ramsey are some other state title contenders that will play. 

Players to Watch 

Sarah Ashlee Barker, Spain Park: The 5-foot-10, four-star recruit, and the top player in the state signed with Georgia to continue her playing career. She helped Spain Park to the 2018 7A State Championship. She is the daughter of former Alabama quarterback Jay Barker. 

Destinee McGhee, Madison Academy: The 6-foot-2, four-star recruit signed with Arkansas. She is a three-time All-State selection. She averaged 19 points, eight rebounds and two block shots per game last season as the Lady Mustangs finished runner-up un 5A. She is the #66 recruit in the nation. 

Emily Bowman, Huntsville: The 6-foot-5 post-player was ranked as the #125 recruit in the nation. She has signed with Vanderbilt. She averaged 17.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.3 blocks last season, and was named Class 7A first-team All-State. 

Hannah Edwards, Oak Mountain: The 6-foot-6 post-player signed with the University of Louisiana-Monroe. She is ranked the #13 center in the nation according to ESPNW. She is averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds per game. 

Sara Puckett, Muscle Shoals: The 6-foot-1 junior currently holds more than 20 Division I scholarship offers from schools such as Tennessee, Mississippi State, Alabama, Florida State and Kentucky.
