The Eva High School Alumni Association hosted their 2017 Reunion on Sat., July 1, where 168 people attended from as far away as Virginia.

The reunion is held bi-annually by the last graduating Class of 1972.

President of the Eva-School Alumni Association Jo Anne Makemson Lindley said it began the week before with an interview of the oldest alumnus, Paul Lindler, Class of 1940, at his residence.

“Mr. Lindler was president of his senior class, FFA, and the Beta Club,” Lindley said. “He attended two years at Athens State University before entering the military, where he served with honor in WWII.  After returning home, he attended the University of Alabama and still proudly wears his ring.  He was employed with Texas Oil and Lockheed as an auditor, and lived with his wife in Georgia for 48 years before returning to his hometown of Eva and later moving to an assisted-living facility in Cullman.”

Ronnie Cobbs of Cobbs Furniture graciously provided beautiful furniture for the event.  Eva High School Alumni will have the opportunity to take advantage of a 40% discount until the end of the month at his store in Eva.

“Ray Cheatham (Class of 1969) and Southeastern Music provided sound and music that all enjoyed including the song “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” sung by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers,” Lindley said. “ A barbecue lunch was capped off with assorted cupcakes by Marcy Stinson
