HOW SALTY ARE YOU?

“How Salty Are You?” was the theme for the Corinth West Baptist Women’s group Conference, held on Sat., June 17. The conference started at 9:30 with a continental breakfast. There were 54 women in attendance from the Morgan, Lawrence and Winston County area. Dana Henslee welcomed everyone and Gayle Miller spoke “All About Salt.” Sherry York of Sardis gave the theme scripture, Matthew 5:13: “Ye are the Salt of the Earth.” The message being that we should keep our religious savor. Cathy Nelson spoke about real salt or a salt substitute and led the music session. Sherry Alexander of Falkville was the pianist. Christie Guthrie was in charge of lunch. After presentation of the door prizes, appreciation remarks wre given and Donna Smithson led the benediction.

The Church Men’s Softball League for South Morgan County began the summer season on Monday’s and Thursday’s starting on June 19. Teams play at the Falkville Ball Park on Culver Road. Included are New Canaan, Falkville Church of Christ, Mt. Zion Baptist and Fairview-the Grace Place, participating in the League.

Mt. Zion Baptist’s Women’s Missionary Union met on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. on June 19. Beverly Murphy presided at the meeting and plans for summer meals were discussed as well as plans for the Summer Revival. The Women helped with recognizing Fathers on Sun., June 18, at the morning worship service. The Fathers were presented with gifts from the church. Everyone enjoyed the Bible Study following the meeting.

McKendree United Methodist Church and visitors who attended the Celebration Recovery on Friday night enjoyed and were inspired by the program given by the speaker from Saddle Back Church. She discussed her home traumas of child abuse and drugs. The Women’s discussion group met at the Bridge Center and was led by Tammy Vest. The Men were led by Brother Mike Vest in the Fellowship Hall.

Charlotte Wise enjoyed spending the weekend June 17-18, at her home place at Lacon. She has recovered from her collarbone fracture and head injury due to a fall. God Bless you Charlotte.

Rev. Shannon Black from Joppa will be the visiting Evangelist for the Corinth West Methodist’s Church Revival. The services will begin at 7 p.m. each night, starting July 10 and going through July 14. There will be special music by locals and visitors. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Pastor Wayne Penn and Bible School Staff at Mt. Zion Baptist Church express appreciation to those who volunteered to help and to those who attended the Sun., June 11 through Thur., June 15 Bible School activities. An average of one hundred twenty four people attended each night from nursery school through adult classes.
