We can always rationalize anything if we leave out the standards of whether it is right or wrong. We must first ask ourselves these three questions before we put our plan into action: 1. Is this plan in harmony with what God would do? 2. Will it even work in real life conditions? 3. Will it be pleasing to God? Proverbs 16:2 tells us al the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
If we let ourselves, we can find an excuse for doing almost anything. God looks at the excuse but He also looks at the motives of the heart as well. When making a choice we need to make good choices. Again would God be pleased with my reason for doing this? Proverbs 21:21 says, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.” God knows what is in our hearts and He isn’t pleased when we look for quick and easy answers. Be diligent, seek God, search His word and ask for His help.
