HARTSELLE— One man was declared deceased when officers responded to a shooting at Eagle-1 Metal Roofing Supply around 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday.

Decatur Police Chief Nate Allen said they received a call at 11:30 a.m. concerning a shooting at 5601 Highway 31.

“Upon officer’s arrival of the scene, one person was deceased,” Allen said, “Apparently, the shooting stemmed from a disturbance between the employees here at the business and a customer. Officers secured the scene, and investigators arrived to begin the investigation.”

Allen said they currently couldn’t release the name of the deceased victim because his next of kin had not been notified.

“What we know so far is that there was a dispute between a customer and a business employee,” Allen said. “There were a lot witnesses to the shooting. And the deceased person is the customer, not an employee.”

Allen said they are not charging anyone as of yet, as the investigation is still on-going and evidence is still being gathered as to what happened to cause the shootng.

“We’re still trying to investigate and find out exactly what happened,” Allen said. “Multiple weapons were recovered at the scene.”

The Hartselle Enquirer will release more information as it becomes available.
