Mary Ellen Reynolds Couey

March 29, 2017

Mrs. Mary Ellen Reynolds Couey, 79, passed away on March 29, 2017 in her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Rev. Bobby Couey. She was a strong and prayerful wife who supported her husband in all areas of ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

She was born Jan. 8, 1938 to Homer Reyolds and Lennie Duncan Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Sarah Crow (Hicle), Linda Hunt (Dennis) and Diane Foster (Billy).

Her life was one of ministry and service to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ first and foremost, then to her family and to her church, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, in Flint. Her desire was to be at church and be in service and used by Jesus in her church and to those she was around. She was a prayer warrior, spending hours daily in prayer and was a student of the Bible, God’s Holy Word. Her desire was to go to her Heavenly Home, see New Jerusalem, to see her husband, sing in the Heavenly Choir, but she said most of all she wanted to sit at the feet of Jesus, the one who had died for her.

Mama is now home experiencing all that she desired so much.

She leaves three children, a daughter, Molly Couey Roth (Robert) and their children; Nate, Daniel (Emily) and Lauren; two sons, Danny Couey (Penny) and their son; Hunter and Robert Earl Couey (Lillian) and their children; Christopher andChristian.

Funeral was Sat., April 1, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Evans officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was at New Center Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church; Jimmy Evans, John Evans, Darin Cleghorn, Kris Jackson, Homer Jones and Luther Wakefield.
