The Hartselle City Schools Board members are in the interviewing process as they search for a Chief School Financial Officer to start the new year.
Hartselle City School Superintendent Vic Wilson said the board has done it’s due diligence in seeking candidates to fill this position.
“We have interviewed six candidates for the CSFO position; Five are current CSFOs; one has been a CSFO,” Wilson said. “Five are in-state and one is out-of-state.
The salary range for this position is $85k-110k.”
Wilson mentioned in their meeting on March 21 that if they had a candidate hired, they would call a special meeting before their next monthly meeting on April 17 at the Central Office.
“We hope to have the successful candidate begin by May 1,” Wilson said.
The former Hartselle City CSFO Jon Godwin submitted a letter of resignation to the board on Jan. 12.
According to Wilson, the letter simply stated, “Members of the Board, Please accept this letter of resignation as CSFO from Hartselle City Board of Education effective January 21, 2017.”
The Hartselle City Schools Board had called a special meeting set for Thur., Jan. 12, at 5:30 p.m. but it was cancelled on the morning of the meeting because of Godwin’s letter of resignation.
Godwin was put on paid administrative leave on December 1, 2016, pending an investigation in relation to personnel issues. Wilson said previously that he could not comment on personnel issues.
When the Hartselle Enquirer previously contacted Godwin via phone about the personnel issues, Godwin simply declined to comment on the situation and resignation. Cara Standridge and Tara Humphries, two former Hartselle City Schools finance employees, also resigned December 13.
