Garlin Cheatham

Funeral for Garlin Cheatham Jr., 70, of Hartselle was Sat., Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with Rev. Jimmy Bassham officiating with burial in the Hartselle Memory Gardens Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Cheatham, who died Wed., Feb. 15, 2017 at his home, was born April 22, 1946 in Lawrence County to Garlin Cheatham Sr. and Nancy Evelean Johnson Cheatham. Mr. Cheatham was a Methodist and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Construction Engineer for Valley Steel Construction and was instrumental in the moving of manufacturing plants all over the world. He designed and developed Booth Meadows Subdivision and KV’s RV Park and Storage, both located in Hartselle. He designed and patented a handicapped RV lift chair with The Travel Lift Chair Company. He was preceded in death by a son; Kenneth K.V. Vest.

 

Survivors include, his wife, Sally B. Cheatham; three sons, Bradley Garlin Cheatham (Ruth), Gregory Scott Cheatham (Tara) and Jeffrey Todd Cheatham (Eve); two brothers, Larry Cheatham (Leesa) and Ralph Cheatham; a sister, Sheila Welborn (Danny); six grandchildren, Kody Wayne Vest, Daniel Garlin Cheatham, Katherine Emily Cheatham, Madelyn Elizabeth Cheatham, Samuel Scott Cheatham and Rachel Mary Gleaves; and a great-granddaughter, Karley Nicole Vest.

William Booth, Mason Booth, Patrick Cheatham, Patrick West, Scott McCarley and John Welborn served as pallbearers.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Hospice of North Alabama, especially his nurse Mallory, for their wonderful care.
