Mr. Parsons died on Fri., Jan. 27, 2017, at his residence. He was born Aug.12, 1933, in Ipswich, Mass., to Richard and Mary Lewis Parsons. He lived a full and productive life, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired with the Coast Guard Reserves after over 20 years of service. He always wore his Coast Guard veteran’s cap everywhere he went, proudly displaying his patriotic love for our country. He was a member and deacon at Gum Springs Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion and the Morgan County Dulcimer Association.
He leaves behind many people who came to love his positive outlook and encouraging disposition. He lived, loved and laughed. We that are still remaining will continue to live, love and laugh, knowing he is strumming away on one of his very own “hand crafted dulcimers” for all the saints above.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy Turney Parsons.
He is survived by a son, Sterling Parsons (Linda) of Madison; and a great-granddaughter, Kaelyn, of Madison.
Deacons of Gum Springs Baptist Church served as pallbearers.
The family wishes to thank Bro. Anthony Patterson and his church family for all their love and support.
