Hashtag Experience Hartselle
In a generation of Facebook check-ins, likes, and ‘selfies’, the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce is hoping to deepen their social media outreach and involve more Hartselle citizens in their growing community event schedule.
Chamber President Danielle Gibson said her idea of “#Experience Hartselle” came from the use of hashtags on Instagram that allows different groups to unite through a common word or phrase.
“We have a lot of events that we put together and that people request we have, now we just need to build support in those,” Gibson said. “We want to have better attendance in our planned events and involve all of the city, especially through social media.
Through this campaign, Gibson said they also want to raise their tourism numbers.
“We have posted a calendar on our website that allows people to add community events to it,” Gibson said. “We will have several big events coming up as well: ‘Coffee and Cards’ the annual chamber meeting in April, Hartselle Depot Days, and ‘Cotton Pickin’ Barbeque.’ We will probably have an event to kick it all off in the spring, but it’s still in the planning stages.”
Gibson asks chamber members and event attenders to use the hashtag “#Experience Hartselle” on the pictures or statuses in relation to events in the near future to help spread the word and involvement of Hartselle chamber events.
