Priceville grad killed in train accident

 

Dakota Parker, a 2015 Priceville High School graduate and freshman at Auburn University, died Sat., April 9, after being struck by a train in Auburn.

According to a news release from the Auburn Police Department, police responded at approximately 12:25 a.m. to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a west bound CSX train near the North College St. railroad crossing. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an unresponsive 19-year-old male lying between the railroad tracks.  Deputy Lee County Coroner Gene Manning responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at 1:20 a.m.

The case is being investigated as an accident, but is still under investigation by the Auburn Police Department, the State Medical Examiner’s office and the Lee County Coroner’s office.

Parker is the son of Kevin and Shannon Parker of Priceville. While attending PHS he was a member of the school’s football team.

Services for Parker include visitation Wed., April 13, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home and Thurs., April 14, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hartselle, with the service to follow.
