When the West Morgan Lady Rebels hosted the Priceville Lady Bulldogs on Friday they were hoping to claim a victory over their second straight Morgan County champion in a week. The Rebels defeated Hartselle in a Morgan County championship rematch four days earlier and were hoping to add Priceville to the list as well. However, the Bulldogs weren’t about to let that happen.

The first quarter started very slow. The two teams would trade baskets to start the game before Hannah Flack finished the quarter with four points to give West Morgan an 8-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Priceville would turn up their full court press to start the second quarter as Kathleen Wheeler and Ashlee Quinn combined for six points to give Priceville the 11-8 lead. The two teams would continue to go back and forth. Lindsey Goodwin would hit two three-pointers to cut the lead to 16-15 and then tied the game, 18-18. Annie Homan would give the Rebels the lead 20-18 and Jadyn Owens would back that up with a three-pointer to give West Morgan a 23-18 lead at halftime.

Skyler Benson would start the second half off with four points for the Bulldogs to cut the lead to 25-22. However, the Rebels would hit 10 straight points which included scores from Homan, Flack and Owens to make the game 35-22. Priceville would manage to cut the lead to 35-28 but Goodwin hit a three just before the buzzer to make the game 38-28 at the end of the third quarter.

The Bulldogs worked and managed to tie the game at 47 with 1:27 left in the game. West Morgan would retake the lead at 51-49 with .30 left in the game. Priceville would have a couple chances to tie the game but they would fall short and they would lose the game 51-49.

Player of the game: Annie Homan. Homan was very critical in this game as her 18 points in a low scoring game helped lead the Rebels to victory.

Homan and Hannah Flack led the Rebels with 18 and 15 points. Others scorers were Lindsey Goodwin with 9, Jadyn Owens with 5, Bailey Parrish and Brie Evans each with 2 points.

Benson and Wheeler led the Priceville Bulldogs with 14 and 12 points. Sara Beth Wilson and Anna Langlois also had scores of 4 and 2 points respectively. Jordan Speegle and Jenna Walker each had 3 points.
