Funeral for Barney E. Jones, 96, of Lacey’s Spring will be Sat., Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial with military honors will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Sat., Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones died Tues., Jan. 19, 2016, at Crestwood Medical Center. He was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Etowah County to Bert T. Jones and Edna Irene Wright Jones. He was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran, a member of the IV 4th Division and a Tech. Sgt. mechanic. His division was among the first to invade Normandy. He was also retired from Chevron USA Oil where he worked as a mechanic. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Livingston Jones.

He is survived by two daughters, Beverly Stokes of Lacey’s Spring and Gloria Cornelius of Somerville; two sisters, Algie Burks of Lacey’s Spring and Jean Brewster of Birmingham; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
