It was another tough battle for the Hartselle Tigers as they traveled to take on the Cullman Bearcats. The Tigers were in desperate need of a win as they were coming off a 10 point loss to the Decatur Red Raiders.

Hartselle struck early taking a 5-2 lead behind a three point shot from Kyle Eddy. Cullman would strike back with 7 unanswered points to take a 9-5 lead. Cullman would make it even worse by improving their lead to 17-7. Hartselle would cut the lead to 20-11 by the end of the first quarter behind the shots of Kelby Alexander and Seth Garner.

Garner would help cut the lead even more at the beginning of the second quarter at 20-15. However, every time it seemed Hartselle was going to climb back into the game the Bearcats would surge back ahead. At one, point the Bearcats held a 34-17 lead over the Tigers. Hartselle would manage to cut the lead to 35-21 at halftime.

Even though they were down 14 Hartselle wasn’t going to give in just yet. A three pointer from Isaac Taylor would cut the lead to 40-26. Hartselle would continue to keep themselves in the game with three point shots from multiple players including Trace Hill, Kyle Eddy and Jaxon Peebles. The Tigers would cut the Bearcats lead to 52-40 but it would be the closest they would come. Cullman would eventually take the win over the Tigers 68-56.

Player of the game: Kelby Alexander. At the beginning of the season Alexander didn’t see as much playing time, but as the season progresses he has proven himself to be a player the Tigers can count on. It is coming at a crucial time for the Tigers as they are struggling with lack of depth inside. Alexander came up with several good plays inside that helped the Tigers in this game.
