Homecoming week kicked off Monday September 21st at Hartselle High school and it continued the next night with the annual Powderpuff games, which is where the girls from each class play each other in football. This years games were extra wild as every game went into either overtime or double overtime. All the games featured strong defense as every team found it difficult to get in the end zone.

The first game featured the seniors taking on the freshmen. The game went back and forth as both teams fought to get into the end zone. However, the game ended with a 0-0 tie and the game went into overtime. Both teams got a chance to score form the 10-yard line but neither could manage to as penalties and bad snaps kept the teams going backwards. The game would go into double overtime where the rule was each team would get one play where if neither scored the winner would be decided by whoever got the closest to the end zone. The seniors would win by gaining just a yard after a bad snap would force the freshmen to gain negative yardage.

The second game pitted the juniors against the sophomores and featured even more drama. Just like the game before both teams would struggle to get into the end zone and go into overtime with a 0-0 tie. The sophomores would be the first team to score, as they would run it in for a 10 yard score on the opening play of overtime and put the juniors in a big hole. However, on fourth down the juniors would get into the end zone after a touchdown pass to tie the score at 7-7. The game would then go into double overtime. The sophomores would win by gaining just a yard after the juniors threw an interception on their only play.

The rest of the night would feature much of the same action as the freshmen would beat the juniors 7-0 in double overtime to take third place and the seniors would beat the sophomores 7-o in double overtime as well to win the championship. The seniors are now two up in the homecoming race as they won the class skits on Monday as well.
