James W. ‘Jimmy’ McCarley

Funeral for James W. “Jimmy” McCarley of Hartselle will be Fri., Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. in Peck Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Falkville with Lebanon pastor Dr. Randy Ashley and long time friend Bro. A. Ray Lee officiating.
Mr. McCarley died at his Hartselle residence Aug. 31, 2015. He was born Aug. 27, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, James C. McCarley and Gertie White McCarley; and step-mother, Ola Mae Hardin McCarley.
Mr. McCarley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay Anders McCarley of Hartselle; two sons, Mike McCarley (Robbyn) and Steve McCarley (Angie); and a sister, Sue McCarley, all of Falkville; and four grandchildren, Paige Bailey (Matthew), Kayla Scombok, Myka McCarley and James Christian McCarley. Mr. McCarley worked at Wolverine Tube in Decatur as an overhead crane operator for 40 years before retiring in 2004. He was an avid Alabama football and Atlanta Braves fan. As a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, he was a driver for the bus ministry when the church sponsored it. Jimmy enjoyed his years as a Hospice of the Valley volunteer, after retirement, until poor health prevented his participation.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Bailey, Christian McCarley, Jerry Miller, Heath Miller, Ronnie Walker and Virgil Wilhite.
