Somerville burglary suspect arrested

A suspect in a burglary on East Upper River Road in Somerville was arrested recently.

The suspect was filmed on home surveillance video during the burglary that was broadcast on local news stations.

Inv. John Dickson was following up on a tip from a patrol deputy about a possible identity of the suspect at 4 p.m. Thurs., July 23, when the suspect’s vehicle passed him. Dickson turned around and pulled over the vehicle to identify the driver.

The driver, Joseph Thomas McBride, 46, of 127 McCutcheon Loop Road in Lacey’s Spring, was identified by Dickson as the alleged perpetrator of the burglary. Other evidence was uncovered which led to the arrest of McBride.

McBride was held in the Morgan County Jail with a $2,500 bond. Other charges may be pending, and the investigation is on-going.
