Decatur men arrested on drug charges

Two Decatur men were arrested Fri., June 26, on drug charges.

Anthony Michael Adkins, 23, of 1410 Ninth Avenue SE, and Joshua Kyle Schooley, 25, of 1921 Upper River Road, were apprehended follow-

ing a drug investigation by the Decatur Police Department. Adkins had distributed marijuana on multiple occasions. Officers observed a white Ford truck leaving his residence on June 26. A traffic stop was conducted following a moving violation at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Seventh Street. The driver, Schooley, was found to be in possession of marijuana, multiple controlled medications and drug sale paraphernalia.

Organized Crime Unit officers then went to Adkins’ residence. After making contact with the subject, officers found marijuana, hydrocodone, xanax, drug sale paraphernalia and U.S. currency inside the home.

Schooley was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana first degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Morgan County Jail on a $8,000 bond. Adkins was arrested for two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana first degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. Adkins was also taken to Morgan County Jail on a $18,000 bond.
