Burdens host First Baptist Church deacon’s dinner

On Fri., Dec. 19, Vaughn and Rita Burden hosted the annual deacon’s supper at their Johnson Chapel home for Falkville First Baptist Church.

The Burdens converted their two-car garage into a winter wonderland complete with Christmas tree. Don Morris prepared the meat and Karen Banks prepared poulette, potatoes, green beans, broccoli salad, corn and rolls. A variety of desserts were also served. Those attending were Bro. Greg and wife Carla, Dr. Sydney Sawyer and wife Bonnie, Eddie Johnson and wife Vanessa, Ken James and wife Julia, Austin Williams and wife Crystal, Patrick Smith and wife Jillian, Zac Ferrell and wife Michelle, Bob Ramey and wife Patricia, Charlie Gover and wife Judy, Hal Lee and wife Jane Ann, Don Morris and wife Charlotte, Jim Caudle and wife Teresa, Joe Edmondson and wife Fran, Jerry Wood and wife Dennett. Others attending were Leah Johnson and Bonnie Thompson. After a wonderful time of eating and fellowship, Patricia Ramey played some Christmas favorites on Vaughn’s mother’s keyboard. Vaughn led the singing.

The family of J.L. Bryan celebrated Christmas Day in the fellowship hall of First Faith Church of Falkville. Enjoying the day were: Ron and Loy Jones of Birmingham, Lavonis Bryan and Gerald McKenzie of Decatur, Sherry Bryan and Kim Smith of Decatur, John and Lori Boger and Bradley of Athens, Peggy Nelson and Holly Clark of Athens, Brett Bryan and Gracie of Holly Pond, Joshua Bryan of Eva, Chris and Pam Blevins, Shane Bryan, Bree and Bryce, Alfred and Linda Bryan, Billy and Patricia Bryan, Florence Hale and Dean Nelson, all of Falkville.

Phyllis Teague was the hostess of a Christmas Eve party at her home Wednesday night. Guests included Jimmy Teague, Austin and Crystal Williams, Cooper and Lydia, Zac and Michell Ferrell, Abby, Lilly and Hudson, Raymond and Karen Banks, John Arthur and Betty Teague, Michael and Danielle Teague, Eli and Owen. Also attending the fun-filled event were Misty Bradford and Colen, Margaret Laughmiller, Sarah Laughmiller, Mary Kathryn Laughmilller and Sylvia Teague.

Visiting with Herman and Adell Gibson have been J.C. Dunaway, Ruth Stidham, Jimmy and June Moody, Linda Haker, Kay Morgan and her granddaughter, Madison, Franklin and Sue Harrison, Floyd Bradford and Wayne and Gail Howard.

Don and Charlotte Morris were hostesses of a Christmas breakfast for members of their family. Enjoying the good fellowship and food were Joey and Teresa Kyle and Clay, Tim and Terrie Morris and Bailey, Jeff and Tiffany Caudill and his mother, Carolyn Caudill.

Descendents of W.R. and Lottie Teague met Sat., Dec. 20, at the home of Albert and Nancy Wallace for their annual Christmas breakfast.
