Traffic stop leads to drug charges

A traffic stop in the Hartselle area on Thursday by a Morgan County sheriff’s deputy led to the arrests of the driver and a passenger and drug-related charges.

Brent Lynn, 24, of 2320 U.S. Hwy. 278 in Cullman was charged with possession of a controlled substance (synthetic marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lights. His bond was set at $2,800.

John Morton, 25, of 1255 County Road 975 in Logan was charged with possession of a controlled substance (synthetic marijuana)/ His bond was set at $2,500.

Deputy Chad Sain initiated the traffic stop in the late evening hours, according to a press release from Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin. He identified Lynn as the driver and located several bags of spice, smoking devices and cut straws with methamphetamine residue in them after receiving consent to search the vehicle.

The Morgan County Drug Task Force was called to the scene and arrested both Lynn and Morton.
