Gurleys made Memorial Day special

Dear Editor,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Joel and Phillip Gurley for the wonderful Memorial Day lunch they gave to all veterans and their spouses.

These two men went out of their way to bless all that was there. They had their helpers, who made sure that everyone was taken care of in a special service remembering those that gave their lives for this country.

It was a special day, one that I will never forget. Joel and Phillip have been doing this for many years and if you are a veteran and did not get to come, you missed a great time. The music was great, the food was great and the memories were great.

This was put together out of the generosity of their hearts to pay back to the veterans what they had given up to serve their country. We had veterans of all ages in attendance, with the most senior at the young age of 93.

He was presented with an American flag, as was the youngest at the age of 31. Both were happy to receive these five-foot by eight-foot flags Joel and Phiilp.

On behalf of all the veterans and their families, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
