Margaret Slate Halbrooks

Funeral for Margaret Slate Halbrooks, 76, of Hartselle will be Sun., March 16, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartselle Memory Gardens cemetery,  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday.

Mrs. Halbrooks  died Fri., March 14, 2014, at Crestwood Medical Center. She was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Morgan County to William Lymon Slate and Ruth Kathleen Marshall Slate. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle and worked many years as a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh Blyth Halbrooks; and  son, Dale Halbrooks.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis Halbrooks (Cindy) of Decatur and Darwin Halbrooks of Hartselle; two daughters, Belinda McClure (Jerry) of Hartselle and Cindy Roberts (Brian) of Huntsville; grandchildren, Eric, J.D, Heather, Nina, Anthony, Toni, Jeremy, Nathan, Elizabeth, Ella and Anna; great-grandchildren, Anya, Sarabeth, Hudson, Kory, William, Matthew, Novella, Gwen and Ava; four sisters, Sarah Halbrooks Plemons of Hartselle, Melba Addis of Decatur, Mearleen Maples of Hartselle and Marsha Kennedy of Tennessee.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity.
