Betty Ann Reed

Funeral for Betty Ann Reed, 80, of Garner N.C., will be Sat. Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hartselle with Peck Funeral Home officiating.

Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden at 3 p.m. Visitation will be after funeral until 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Reed died Sept. 9, 2013, at her home. She was born March 2, 1933, to Earnest and Annie Mae Smith in Hokes Bluff. In addition to being a loving wife and caring mother, Mrs. Reed shared her compassionate and tender heart by serving as a teacher’s assistant for special needs children at Crestline Elementary School from 1978 to 1985. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Milton Reed; her son, Richard Reed; sisters, Jeanette Landers, Nina Cassidy; and brother, T.W. Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Reed of Raleigh, N.C.; and a large and loving extended family.
