Ribbon cutting for new HHS set for April 28

Hartselle High School will have a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony Sun., April 28, at 1:30 p.m., according to Hartselle Board of Education member Jennifer Sittason.

During a work session Thursday, board members discussed details of the event.

“That’s about the only date we have available to do a ribbon cutting,” Sittason told board members during the work session. “We have so much going on during the week that the only date we could have the ribbon cutting is on a Sunday afternoon.”

The ribbon cutting will be held outside the school at 1:30 p.m. followed by a brief ceremony in the school auditorium, if it is ready.

School Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed said the seats were installed, but they were still waiting on the electrical contractor to install lighting as of Thursday.

Following the ceremony, HHS ambassadors will be available to give guests a tour of the new high school.

Sittason said they are planning to send out invitations to dignitaries as soon as possible. She also said that the Hartselle High School Band has agreed to perform during the ceremony.

Reed also suggested that the board hire an outside firm to thoroughly clean the building before the ribbon cutting was held that weekend.
