Decatur Heritage earns sweep of Falkville

Decatur Heritage scored one run in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Falkville 10-9, earning a regular-season sweep.

With two outs, Kyle Stuart walked and later scored on a double by Sawyer Holland.

Alston Howard took the loss for the Blue Devils in a complete game. Only three of the 10 runs were earned. He allowed eight hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.

He did his part at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two doubles.

Ryan Bradford and Tyler Woodall both had two hits for the Blue Devils.

After falling behind 3-0, Falkville rallied to score four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Decatur Heritage scored five more runs over the next four innings to take a 8-4 lead.

The Blue Devils tacked four more on the board, tying the game. Falkville, however, couldn’t respond in the bottom of the seventh.

Pierce Thompson shut down the Blue Devils, allowing one earned run on three hits and three walks.

Hunter Woodall, Ryan Bradford and Bryant Hester were the only hitters for Falkville. Ryan Sullivan scored the Blue Devils’ run.

Bradford was tagged with the loss, allowing nine hits, but only three of the 11 runs were earned, as the Blue Devils committed eight errors.
