Martha Evelyn Puckett

Funeral for Martha Evelyn Puckett, 83, of Decatur will be Sat., Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ray Remke officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sat., Feb. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Puckett died on Thur. Feb. 21, 2013 at River City Care & Rehab.

She was born Nov. 9, 1929, in Lawrence County to Silas and Irene Black in Bankhead Forest, where her father was a forest ranger. Mrs. Puckett grew up in Moulton and later in Decatur where she was a graduate of Riverside High School and later attended Athens College. She worked for many years as a secretary and later as a purchasing agent for Willo Products Company. She was also an executive assistant at First State Bank. Mrs. Puckett was an avid gardener and bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Guin Puckett; three children, David Guin Jr., and twins, Theresa and Andrew Puckett; a sister, Anna Pearl Pruett; two brothers, Richard

Black and the Rev. Roy Black.

The family wishes to thank the staff at River City Care & Rehab and especially Hospice of the Valley for their support and care during this time.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Guin Puckett and wife Carol of Decatur, Gerald Alan Puckett and wife Jennifer of Decatur, James Richard Puckett and wife Kim of New River, Ariz.; one sister, Magdalene Powell of Decatur; nine grandchildren, Megan McCulley, David Guin Puckett II, Lindsey Lucas, Joshua Daniel Puckett, Andrew Paul Puckett, Rosemary Ellen Puckett, Ruth Ann Puckett, Martha Lillian Puckett, Silas Puckett; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
