Brewer advances

Brewer proved once again Tuesday morning why they are the top team in Class 5A.

The top-ranked Lady Patriots throttled second-ranked Center Point 68-43 to advance to the Northeast Regional finals at Jacksonville State University Friday at 4 p.m. They will face the Ramsey-Columbia winner.

Brewer took control of the game from the opening tip, going on a 9-2 run to force a Center Point timeout. However, that timeout did little to slow the momentum of Brewer. The Lady Patriots extended that advantage to 23-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Brewer continued their hot shooting, as they finished the first half shooting 62 percent from the field to take a 42-17 halftime advantage.

The Lady Patriots then cruised through the second half to the 25-point win.

Riley Northway finished with 22 points, seven rebounds. Rheagan Harvel added 13 points and three steals. Savana Flack finished with 12 points and five assists. Malerie Drinkard had 10 points and six rebounds. Cheyenne McLemore finished with seven points and six rebounds. Emily Oden and Caitlin Lavendar both had two points.

Brewer held Georgia Tech-signee Gabrielle Holoston without a point. Dominique Patrick led the Eagles with 20.
