Hartselle High School captured championship honors in the freshmen division of the Morgan County Basketball Tournament by defeating Danville 46-29 in Priceville Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers advanced to the finals by defeating Falkville 53-35 on Jan. 21 and ended their season with an 11-6 record.

Hartselle jumped out to a fast start, scoring back-to-back treys, and never trailed in the game. They were ahead 11-5 after one quarter, held a commanding 25-10 lead at halftime and were out front 37-20 after three quarters.

The Hawks made a brief run early in the final quarter on the strength of back-to-back baskets by Eric Orr and back-to-back treys by Hunter Fulgham and Brandom McCormick. However, after drawing to within 10 points of the Tigers, they were held scoreless during the final 3:40 of the game.
