Mashburn to sing at Carnegie Hall

Jesse Mashburn has been selected to participate in the 2013 American High School Honors Performance Series Choir at Carnegie Hall.

Mashburn was chosen by audition and will join other elite high school students from across the U.S. for a special performance in New York City on Feb. 10, 2013.

Mashburn and other selected vocalists will rehearse and perform under the direction of renowned conductor Dr. Eph Ehly. In addition to the performance, students will attend seminars led by industry and college professionals. The participants will also have the opportunity to visit tourist attractions in New York City and take in a Broadway show.

Jesse Mashburn

Jesse is a 16-year-old junior at Hartselle High School. She is a member of the HHS Performers Show Choir and the National Honor Society. She has been in choir since junior high school and currently takes private lessons as a mezzo-soprano under Mrs. Charlsa Perdew.

In addition to school choirs, Jesse has been selected to the Alabama All-State SSA Choir and was chosen by audition as the Alabama Vocal Association District 1 Outstanding Choral Student. She will compete for the state title in March at Samford University.

Mashburn plans to major in vocal performance. She is the daughter of Drs. Eric and Nicole Mashburn.
