Nelda Jane Johnston

A graveside service and burial for Nelda Jane Johnston of Decatur will be Thur., Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Antioch Cemetery in Somerville with the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Miss Johnston died Mon., Dec. 24, 2012, at the age of 85 at her residence. She was born July 2, 1927, in Morgan County to Tate L. Johnston and Georgia (Price) Johnston. Miss Johnston graduated from Cotaco High School in 1946 and worked in Food Service for most of her life. After she retired she provided childcare for over a dozen different children and enjoyed every minute of it. She was an avid gardener and reader of books. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hartselle and faithfully attended Sunday School and church.

She is survived by a sister, Caroline Johnston Sterling, and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Ray Sunday School Class of Hartselle First UMC.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Good Samaritan- First Methodist Church of Hartselle or Antioch Methodist Church in Somerville.
