Hartselle Enquirer

Wenonah (10-1) at Hartselle (7-4)

Series: First meeting

Hartselle still alive: Hartselle finally got the breaks to go their way last week at No. 2 Fort Payne. The Tigers have played six one-possession games this season. They had won only one up until last week’s game. However, expect another close game against Wenonah this week.

Dragon fire: Wenonah has been experiencing one of its best seasons in recent memory. The Dragons have set a record for the largest margin of victory this season, set a new record for points scored in a season, recorded five shutouts and currently have the second most wins in school history.

Home sweet home: Hartselle will play only its fifth home game this season tonight. They have already played seven road games. And if all Region 8 teams advance to the quarterfinals, it will be the last home game for Hartselle this season, as the higher ranked team in the region would host the remaining playoff games. The only chances Hartselle would have to host another region game is if they win tonight and Pinson Valley defeats No. 1 Muscle Shoals or McAdory defeats Russellville.

Records all time in the round of 16: Wenonah 2-7 (Home 2-5, Away 0-1, lost last 4) , Hartselle 10-7 (home 4-2, Away 6-5, won last 5).

Overall playoff records: Hartselle 35-29 (won last 6), Wenonah 11-16
